Some of the most powerful youth advocates never ask for recognition. They don’t chase titles, funding, or influence. They show up—consistently, quietly, and with integrity—because young people deserve someone who won’t leave when things get uncomfortable.
Lisa Dickson is one of those people.
For over 20 years, Lisa has advocated for foster youth as a volunteer—by choice. No pay. No political leverage. No organizational strings attached. She made a conscious decision to remain independent so her voice could never be persuaded, influenced, or controlled. Her commitment comes from true passion, not position.
That kind of advocacy is rare. And it matters more than most systems realize.
Youth-led work often depends on people like Lisa—alumni support, who brings lived experience, wisdom, steadiness, and deep care—yet the systems surrounding this work rarely protect them. Integrity is punished, passion is exploited, and the people doing the work “the right way” are expected to sacrifice endlessly.
This is one of the reasons Virtue Visionary LLC exists.
We believe authentic youth voice, youth wellbeing, and values-driven alumni supporters and adult allies deserve more than good intentions. They deserve structure, protection, and sustainability. Youth should never be asked to share their stories without safety or follow-through. Alumni supports and adult allies should not have to choose between integrity and survival. And organizations should have access to guidance that helps them do this work responsibly—without harm.
Virtue Visionary is about building the infrastructure that people like Lisa should have always had:
protection from politics and performative engagement
systems that honor integrity, not just outcomes
support for youth voice that doesn’t extract or tokenize
pathways for passionate advocates to be valued and paid
