Small Changes, Real Impact

This reflection is shared with permission and represents one youth’s lived experience. Virtue Visionary exists to protect spaces where youth can speak honestly, be seen fully, and engage in advocacy without fear of being minimized or tokenized.

“Working with [this advocacy community] has been an amazing experience. It’s like having a second family. We do things together during the holidays, have fun outings, and go into the community to give back. We support each other, even though we don’t always know everyone well. We all work together, and we have faith in each other.

I feel like we’ve made a lot of change. It may not always be big or major change, but we’ve raised awareness around challenges foster youth face, trained educators on trauma-informed care, and influenced policy and practices by advocating at both the state and local levels.

This experience has helped me grow as a leader, a woman, and a mother. I feel blessed to have worked with the youth in the group and the adults as well. [This advocacy community] was amazing.”
